Various songs I saved from old CLAW-related websites (one of which is featured on my links page, although most are gone). Some of these were custom-made for their respective pages/sites, so aren't part of any Geocities MIDI recovery dump I am aware of. All files have been converted to MP3.
ThIEF's music was among the casualties of the 2018 MySpace data loss, and are not part of the
Myspace Dragon Hoard on Internet Archive. While I do not have the whole album, here is my small contribution to preserving internet history.
Note: several songs were edited by me years ago to add fade ins and/or fade outs. In retrospect, the first song was regrettably given too much fade out (it was a much longer song), but it is too late to fix that now.
These are personal mods I have made for various reasons. Most of them are rather simple, which means they are probably compatible with anything.
Simple music mod that switches the 'Egyptian'-sounding Act I crypt track with the subtler tomb track from Act II.
I always found it strange that Act II's overworld zone had its soundtrack split between the general desert theme and the Canyon of the Magi theme. This mod addresses that by making them both the same song.
Includes two versions (represented as folders): altmusicdesert1 and altmusicdesert2. The first one is a custom-edited 9 minute track that has all the sections from both songs seamlessly combined, and the second is an extra version I downloaded years ago, which is a 6 minute mix that features everything from the Canyon of the Magi theme but leaves out the last half of the general desert theme.
A chunk of the Monastery theme (about a minute from the start) is missing in-game. This might've been because that part of the song was also included in the pre-LoD main menu theme. This mod restores it.
Includes two versions (represented as folders): altmusicmonastery1 and altmusicmonastery2. The first one is the full 6 minute track, and the second is my personal version that has the missing intro segment but not the 'choir' part in the middle of the song (that part creeped me out too much).
Note: all three mods override the music files for both HD and legacy modes.
README ON HOW TO INSTALL THESE MODS
0) For Alternate Songs: The Desert and/or The Monastery: pick ONE of the two choices (1 = full/combined version, 2 = shorter extra version). If you've downloaded 'Alternate Songs: Crypt/Tomb Switcheroo', skip this step.
1) If you haven't already, make a folder called 'Mods' inside the 'Diablo II Resurrected' folder
2) Extract the chosen folder into the new mod folder
3) Right click on the D2:R shortcut then select 'properties'
4) Add ' -mod @ -txt' to the end of the target (replace '@' with the name of the folder you've extracted)
You can also take the data folder (and everything in it) and combine it with an existing mod .mpq folder stack. Since all it does is override music files, it should be compatible with anything that doesn't touch those same files.
